Researchers who regularly work with members of underrepresented groups in later life will discuss a range of topics, including:
- Best practice for engaging with, and improving the lives of, members of underrepresented communities
- Opportunity areas for research innovation in later life
- UKRI Funding opportunities for later life research innovation
Speakers
Dr. Anna Lowe, Associate Professor at Sheffield Hallam University and Programme Manager at the National Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine (Sheffield), overseeing ‘Move More', Sheffield's whole systems approach to increasing physical activity.
Dr. Moise Roche, whose research interests lie in prevention, detection, and management of dementia in Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) populations and who designed and tested a tailored evidence-based intervention to encourage timely help-seeking for dementia in UK black elders.
Dr. Bela Prasad is cofounder of MatchingMind and is passionate about increasing access to care. MatchingMind uses AI driven matching to make it easy for people to find their perfect health partner and is set up to be inclusive, recognising individuals' intersectional identities in order to best meet their needs.
This event will be introduced by George MacGinnis, Healthy Ageing Challenge Director at UKRI, and chaired by Dr. Tim Shakespeare, Research Acceleration Lead at Zinc.
